Reid State Park Intimate Wedding in Georgetown, Maine

Alyssa and Matt celebrated their wedding day at one of their favorite places, Reid State Park, in Maine with their closest loved ones this past September. They crafted a day that was close to home in both people and place. Both of their families live out of state so they were looking forward to everyone enjoying a morning by the ocean together in the place Alyssa and Matt call home together!

A WEDDING MADE SPECIAL BY PEOPLE AND PLACE IN MAINE

From our very first call, the intention behind each part of Alyssa and Matt’s day was very clearly based around what brings them joy together in their every day. They shared they were both crafty, enjoyed walks in the woods, and being outside. They frequently traveled to visit family so they were looking forward to sharing a piece of their life in Midcoast Maine with them.

For more information about planning an event at Reid State Park, I wrote a blog post featuring the park including things to know as you’re planning! Check it out below:

CELEBRATING THE EVERY DAY ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Bringing in their joy of creating, Alyssa grew her own flowers for her bouquet and made her own beautiful dress! They brought games for their families to enjoy and family photo albums to look through at their reception.

There were handmade cards, mixtapes, and crafts they had given each other over the years at the reception. Their cat, Henry, is also very important to them so they included him, too! It was their story, on their wedding day, celebrated.

Alyssa’s Uncle officiated their ceremony and the paper mâché lanterns that hung above everyone during their reception at the West Bath Grange reception? Those were made by family as well. It was extremely special to witness and photograph.

WHY HIRING A DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHER MEANS LESS STRESS ON A WEDDING DAY

Alyssa and Matt wanted to simply enjoy their day with their families and have that joy documented. They knew how special it was that everyone could join together and wanted to be as present with them as possible.

Hiring a documentary photographer means inviting someone who will observe the portraits and moments already happening all around on a wedding day. Documentary photography is for the couples who are excited about seeing those real interactions and moments bringing them right back to those feelings of the day itself.
