Scotland Fields Wedding — A Summer Celebration
Colby and Zach’s Scotland Fields wedding in Southern Maine was a celebration all about the people and place closest to them. Having been together for more than a decade, they were excited to spend the day with their friends and family from far and wide in an area where they both grew up in.
Wedding Photography for the Non-Bridal Couples
When Colby and Zach first reached out they expressed that while they were very excited about their wedding, they were a very non-bridey/groomy couple and nervous about photography.
They felt they could be quite awkward and were looking for a photographer who could capture natural, organic, and fun moments between the two of them and their family and friends. Sign me up! I knew my focus on observation rather than posing or performance was exactly what they were looking for.
A Wedding Weekend at Scotland Fields in York, Maine
As I got to know Colby and Zach in the months leading up to their wedding, it was clear how much they valued simply spending time with their family and friends. They planned a weekend at Scotland Fields, in the part of Maine where they both grew up, surrounded by more than 100 of their people.
Scotland Fields is a beautiful wedding venue along the York River, with on-site accommodations for up to 26 guests — perfect for a full weekend celebration! Colby and Zach booked the entire weekend for their immediate family to spend the time together. On Saturday, they created a day that was low-key and fun for everyone.
Whether you’re hosting a celebration with 220 of your closest people or keeping it intimate with 50, Scotland Fields can beautifully accommodate both!
Reliving Your Wedding Day Through Genuine Photographs
In order to capture those emotions and real moments for couples to be able to look back and think, ‘This was how it felt to be there’, my number one priority is to get to know them and what’s important to them prior to their day. That way, when I’m there on the day, I’m already anticipating the moments I know will mean the most to them. By letting observation take the lead, those genuine portraits reveal themselves — no performance necessary.
“We were just saying we were scared we couldn’t remember the day and these brought us right back, so thank you! I love seeing all our beautiful friends and family, you captured all the magic.” — Colby & Zach
Quiet, Observational Wedding Photography for Non-Traditional Couples
Colby and Zach’s day was the perfect reminder that weddings don’t need to be performative to be meaningful — they just need to feel like you. If you’re planning a celebration rooted in connection, I’d love to help you relive it exactly how it felt.
